Submission Guidelines
Editorial Note
Gym Coach (ISSN: 1178-9808), is published by TheGymPress. Gym Coach is a professional Internet based journal devoted to expanding the current body of knowledge in the field of gymnastics coaching. The Gym Coach publishes articles from all areas of interest related specifically to or indirectly related to gymnastics training and coaching. Article topics include, are not exclusively restricted to: Gymnastics skill training and preparation; strength and conditioning; coaching pedagogy; injury prevention and rehabilitation, and more. The Gym Coach publishes each article individually once approved. All published articles are collected in 1 volume per year (you can access previous volumes at our Journal Archive page). Authors who wish to submit a manuscript for publication should carefully read the submission instructions below.

Manuscripts accepted for publication will be sold by the journal at a cost of USD $2 - $5 (depending on length, variety of media used, author experience and reputation etc.). Author/s will receive a 75% commission rate for each of their article/s sold and 25% per article will be commissioned by TheGymPress as a service fee. Payments will be made to only through PayPal. Authors are welcome to donate their work if they wish. It will be made freely available for downloading at the journal’s website.
Coaches, academics, post graduate students, and or any individuals interested in gymnastics, sport science and coaching are invited to submit their works to the Gym Coach for publication. Manuscripts submitted may be in the format of technical reports, investigative reports, reviews, letters to the editor, and forum threads. All manuscripts should be supported by evidence such as practically tested methods, scientific or otherwise reliable sources, and always with sound logical rationale.
All manuscripts will be considered for publication, however manuscripts that do not comply with the outlined requirements and directives for process, style, and format may be returned for alterations. All submissions must be accompanied by a transfer of copyright.
It is the author’s responsibility to obtain informed consent from all persons involved (such as gymnasts used in video or image demonstrations). All material is assumed to be original or properly referenced. Plagiarism should be reported to the journal chief-editor. The Gym Coach takes no responsibility for any unfulfilled responsibilities of the author/s

Submitted manuscripts will be considered for publication on the condition that they are contributed solely to this journal and will not be reproduced in any way without written permission from The Gym Press. The following signed and dated agreement must accompany each manuscript submitted for publication (if submitted electronically, this agreement must be included in the email which accompanies the manuscript):
Name of Author transfers copyright ownership of the article entitled [title of article], including text and artwork, to the Gym Coach: Journal of Coaching and Sport Science in Gymnastics in the event that the article is published. Name of Author warrants and confirms that the article is original, and has not been published previously. I Name of Author sign for and accept responsibility for releasing this material on behalf of myself and all co-authors.
Author/s must submit their manuscript, pre-formatted as set by Gym Coach requirements using the provided templates. Manuscript templates provide all the necessary information on how to write and structure each specific manuscript (review, technical report, etc.). Simply download the appropriate template and replace the content of the file under the appropriate heading.
You will need Microsoft Word 2003 or OpenOffice to use these templates. Please make a note of the formatting features of the template documents as these must be adhered to (such as letter case, font, color, etc.). All manuscripts must be submitted as a Word or OpenOffice (.doc, .rtf, .odt ) files.

Technical Reports |
A Technical Report is an original article that addresses areas of methodological interest. These include skill technique, conditioning programs, etc. Authors must explain their reasoning and methods clearly (whenever possible use of scientific, technical or other relevant literature to support the methodological argument). |
Authors should provide illustrations and or video references whenever possible to help clarify and support their arguments and methods. |

Investigative Reports |
An investigative report is a document that is meant to provide information on a specific topic. Where relevant opposing arguments should be acknowledged and detailed. Topics should be well researched and clearly explained. |
Articles should be well researched and backed-up with references. For research purposes use Books, University article databases Google Scholar, The Gym Press Library, PubMed, and or any other research tool available to you. |

Letters to the Editor |
This is a letter addressed to the editor with the intention of it being published. Subject matter of letters to the editor include: Supporting or opposing an editorial stance; commentary on another paper or topic; a response to another published letter correcting a perceived error or misrepresentation etc. |
Keep letters short in length and clearly to the point. Use supporting evidence to back up your argument/opinions. |

Forum Threads |
A collection of posts from a single forum thread which provides an unbiased view point on a topic as discussed by the forum members |
Select only the relevant posts from each thread. Do not include any irrelevant posts. |
Forum Threads Manuscript Template - |
The location of all tables, images, videos, animations etc. should be indicated in the text. All media files (e.g. videos, animations, images) should be submitted separately from the text document. Images, figures, diagrams etc. used should be chronologically ordered and each one needs to be labelled appropriately with an accompanying description within the text. The author is responsible for ensuring that persons pictured in photographs have provided informed consent for the use of their picture
Authors are welcome to use the Gym Coach Illustration maker file to create their illustrations (Download here). To use this file you will need Photoshop CS3 and a basic understanding of how to use the software. Alternatively, authors can request to have illustrations created for them by the editorial staff for a small fee (based on the number of illustrations required). Request this with your submission, and provide stick figures, rough sketch diagrams, or detailed descriptions of the required illustrations.
c. Check List for Authors' Submission
The appropriate manuscript template has been used.
All materials (images, videos, text, tables etc,) have been electronically submitted as separate files.
Included contact details for all authors (full name, club name they are associated with, country, contact email).
Informed consent has been sought and granted by all individuals identifiable in photos or videos.
Include a short author biography for each author with a photograph (optional) produced in JPEG format.
Copyright Transfer Statement has been signed and sent to the chief-editor or is included in the email submission of the manuscript
