Delay for May Issue
Hi Everyone
I am sorry to inform everyone that the next issue of TheGymPress may be delayed a few days. The last couple of weeks have been extremely busy with regional development squad trainings/coaching, InHouse Clinics, extra trainings during holidays, so its crazy. I will do my best to get the issue out ASAP. Thank you to all those contributors who submitted their articles in time for the publication.

The new download panel

I am please to present to everyone the new and improved download panel.
I have updated the "Available Issues" download panel, from the old and boring text links to the much more appealing image icon links. However in doing so it has come to my attention that there are differences in downloading and viewing of the issues between FireFox and Internet Explorer 7 (IE)(I haven't test the downloading and display of the site on other browsers such as Opera or older versions of FireFox and EI, so please leave a comment if you are having issues with certain browsers). So just as a precaution i would like to give everyone heads up on how they can download individual issues.
If you are using EI you can download an issue in 2 ways.
1- Right click and image and select "save target as". It will then ask you to save a file called 'view.pdf'. You can rename this file to the name you desire (but keep the pdf extension), and save to your desired location on your computer.
2- Left click an image, and wait a we bit for the issue to download and open in your acrobat reader. You can then click on the save icon (which looks like an old floppy disk) to save a copy of the pdf file on your computer
For FireFox, you can either
1- Do the same as option 2 for EI or
2- You can right click the image and go "save link as". A download window will prompt you download a file called "view.php". You can rename this file, and chance its extension from "*.php" to "name.pdf" in order to save the file as a pdf.
Hope that helps anyone who is not sure about how to download a copy of the current issues.

Feedback Please
So far the most recent issue of TheGymPress has been downloaded 347 times in the first month of release. This is by far the most for any other issue so far. This brings me to ask all readers to please leave some feedback in the comments. Please tell me how you liked the issue, what were things you didn't like, what would make the issue more useful to you etc.
I have not forgotten about the coaching resources sharing. Based on the last poll which got restarted about 4 times, i would say there are at least 20-30 readers who would like to share coaching resources. Unfortunately I have not come up with any good solutions. The problem is that coaching clinic videos are to big to upload, and share over the internet, and books can't be shared due to copyright issue. I guess for now if you are interested in trading coaching videos contact me

TheGymPress March 2008 - Vol 2 Issue 1 - Coming Soon
The next issue of The Gym Press is coming on the 1st of March.
I have added in some much needed features to the publications, which should make it even better then before.
1- Video hyperlinking - From now when i can, i will have videos attached to images with actual demonstrations of drills. When you see the Video Icon ![]()
you will know you can click on the image or icon and be directed to a video link hosted on the GymnastTube.
2- Banner and Source Hyperlinks - From now you can click on all banners and dark red colured text and be directed to the site.
3- Bookmarks. You won't have to scroll down pages anymore. By clicking on the bookmark tab (on the left hand side) on your Acrobat Reader you will be able to navigate to the page you want to go.
Any further suggestions are always welcome.

TADAAA!!!
Well as promised here is the new Gym Press Blog site. The major changes are the head banner and the addition of a third column (all thanks to the brilliant advice from Tips For New Bloogers Blog). Thanks to this new third column there is no need to scroll to the bottom of the page to find our Contributors and Supporters (formerly know as "Friends of The Gym Press"). I have updated some of the buttons to make them look sharper, and added some that should have been added while ago. And finally the colour scheme has been redone (i am not 100% happy with it, so ideas welcome, and if you know what you are doing put in the hex code for the colour to take out the guessing game). Plus 1-2other small things. So what do you think? Comments and ideas on how to make the site more functional always welcome
I hope that you don't think that in the process of this makeover i have forgotten about the The Gym Press publication, because the new issue will be out on the 1st of March, and it will be better then ever.
So stay tuned.

In the top 10

Today I received an email from the Marketing Associate of Blogged.com informing me that The Gym Press has made it in the top 10 ten (at 10th place currently) in the Sports/Gymnastics Sports Business category. I thought that was really cool. The number 1 spot in the category goes to Perfect 10 one of the friends and contributors of The Gym Press..YAY!! Well done, and a well done to all other Friend/Associate blogs who have made the top 10 as well (Gymnastics Coaching 7th, and The GymBlog 8th). However, in gymnastics terms 7.8 out of 10 is (was haha) a low score. In light of this and in the name of the competative spirit of gymnastics I have started working on a new design for the blog. You can also help get us get higher in the ratings by rating The Gym Press on Blooged.com --> rate The Gym Press

A step closer

Well its not quite the the Trade List i was thinking of, but it is a step in the right direction. Our friends at American Gymnast have brought out the Gymnasts Tube. It is like YouTube but purely for gymnastics content. It is a neat idea that will hopefully allow coaches another source for further education and development.
So if you have gymnastics videos of routines, skills, trainings etc.. go for it and upload them for all on www.gymnasttube.com. At least check it out.
